The focus of my communication's degree is in visual media.  This field entails having general knowledge and training in a wide array of multi- media venues including: film/video editing, film/video hardware operation, basic lighting design, basic sound design, graphic design, web design, scriptwriting, and film/television direction.

The majority of my college projects required the use of Mini-DV media.  Therefore, my hardware operational abilities are best with high-end Mini-DV cameras, particularly the Panasonic AG-DVX100 24P DV Cinema Camera.  I am familiar with Sony Betacam, but again, its bulky size, expense, and little, if no difference in final picture quality, make it second choice to DV technology.  For projects requiring digital photography, I own and use the Olympus C-50 Zoom 5-megapixel camera.

I was trained on, own, and edit exclusively using Apple's Final Cut Pro, available only on Macintosh computers.  I have a minimal working knowledge of the professionally preferred AVID editing systems, only because access to these machines is often expensive. Aside from rendering power, the skeletal formats of the two programs are very similar: if you know one, you can quickly learn the other.  I completed a course entirely dedicated to Adobe After Effects, and prefer to create post-production effects with this program.  Although, Final Cut Pro's newer versions incorporate many of the same features, including extensive image manipulation, filters, and a separate title creation program. Reguarding graphic design, I switch between Adobe Photoshop for complex projects, and Jasc Paint Shop Pro for simple web projects or quick picture edits.  Outputting digital media can be done to a digital tape, video disc, analog tape through a DV Bridge, video disc, or to DVD.  I am self- taught in DVD-authoring, using Apple's DVD Studio Pro 2 program.  This version has a completely different interface from the original, and is the only authoring program I can operate.  Everything from current film projects, to old home videos, to soundtrack accompanied picture slideshows, can be digitized and divided into tracks, complete with full motion menus, interactive buttons, and chapter markers. Please email me for a list of very affordable price quotes for specific media services.
